Your brain is an amazing machine developed my massive amounts of effort. Regardless of whether you believe in creation or evolution or a combination of both, dismissing this data will leave you in an inordinate amount of struggle. This approach will approach from the angle of evolution.
Your brain has evolved to survive, and taken the most important parts of evolution. Your brain has a limited amount of processing power each day, that is why you feel so wasted at the end of a day where you don’t physically do much. It is like an organization that supplies each of it’s warehouses daily. getting a big batch that is meant to supply the whole day. Each day the supplies are used up based on demand, yes there are supplies delivered during the working hours, but those cannot keep up with the taxing demand. You require down time to restock, thus sleep. Therefore your brain evolved to use data and perform functions at using the most efficient method possible. Which is the three brains. The three segments are the Reptilian (or robotic), Mammalian (or monkey), and Human (or sage) brains respectively. I will be using the terms in parentheses for clear and easy communication.
The robotic segment is the portion that allows you unconscious and repetitive tasks without using too much processing power. Waking up, getting breakfast, brushing teeth, going to the bathroom. flight or fight response as well. Are all prime examples of tasks that are best performed using the robotic brain.
The monkey looks for excitement, because in a survival sense anything exciting could be dangerous. Odd smells, when something feels funny, odd sounds and temperature fluctuations. all of those if something is out of the ordinary the monkey brain takes over and takes care of the situation. It is your first real defense against threats.
The sage brain is where you create protections against the future problems. this is where you plan, the holidays come every year, you set aside funds so you are not broke at the end of the holidays. saving decorations each year. planning for retirement. this is where proactive steps are taken against the dangers in the future.
Now where do you operate most of your time is it mechanically going through your life with the same sequence of work day in and day out? Not much if any variations in your daily life? Is it looking for the new phone, the new update or new move to excite you so you don’t have the monotony of daily life. Or do the tasks that you need to do daily, baisicly do themselves, while any emergencies that come up are handled quickly so you can get back to planing for the future? or making value for others to live a better life? If you are reading this, than you probably are one of the first two scenarios, Not the latter.
This post has gone on long enough, and I will schedule the next Portion of this subject to come out tomorrow. there will be four more posts on this subject: The Robot Brain Automating your Life, Taming The Monkey, Releasing the Sage, and Concluding for the next step.
